These engaging file folder activities for preschool and kindergarten are perfect for special education classrooms and students who are just learning basic matching. Your students will love practicing matching by color with monster trucks, food trucks and hot air balloons. They can even build a truck, a boat and a train with simple shapes.

FEATURES
These tasks are specifically designed to work in independent work systems with the following characteristics.
- Each task has a clear beginning and end. Students can tell when they have finished a task because the pieces will be gone.
- Tasks are designed (with the help of Velcro) to stay together when the student finishes and put them in the finished basket. This keeps them from trying to fix them when tasks come apart and makes it easy to check them after to make sure the students complete them correctly.
- I have tried to create tasks that are easily adapted for individual needs. For instance, a file folder could be made from just one page instead of 2 to allow new users to practice with fewer choices. For instance, make the hot air balloons file folder with just 5 balloons instead of 10.
- The tasks are visually clear and when something seemed like it might be confusing, I chose to remove the confusing element to increase the students’ abilities to do it independently.
- Finally, the tasks are designed to be highly visually engaging and capitalize on the visual discrimination skills that are often a strength for students with autism.
